New tobacco growing Contract Farming Agreement between Piraeus Bank and the “Co-operative Union of Tobacco producers in Greece-SEKE S.A.”

Piraeus Bank, in collaboration with the “Co-operative Union of Tobacco producers in Greece-SEKE S.A.”, has initiated a new Contract Farming Program intended for tobacco producers in the Prefectures of Thessaloniki, Xanthi, Drama, Pieria Trikala and Karditsa.

The funding proposal for tobacco growing Contract Farming is essentially intended to help rationalize the organization and financially support the entire production process, from the producer to product processing and selling by the said union.

“The Co-operative Union of Tobacco producers in Greece-SEKE S.A.”, has been operating since 1947. It has modern, privately owned facilities in Xanthi for processing and storing of Eastern and Virginia tobacco, it exports to 28 countries all over the world and it is the first Greek company to initiate the production of certified organic tobacco in the region of Stavroupoli in Xanthi.

Its entire activity is carried out on a Co-operative Basis, aiming at the tobacco production development, the export expansion and the tobacco producers’ income increase.

Through the Piraeus Bank Contract Farming Program, the producer is provided with the required liquidity at highly competitive terms, exactly when he needs such liquidity, while payment of the production agreed to be delivered to the union is guaranteed.

The Program covers the entire crops production and supply chain by supporting, in an organized manner, the mutually beneficial collaboration between producers and the union.

This new collaboration attests to the firm will of Piraeus Bank to support and encourage any sound productive effort in the economy sector.
