Piraeus Wins Five International Distinctions at
the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026
First Greek Bank Awarded Europe's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility for a Second Consecutive Year
Piraeus has won five awards at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, including Europe's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility, becoming the first bank to retain the pan-European title since the award's creation.
Piraeus has been awarded:
Europe's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility
Greece's Best Retail Bank
Greece's Best Bank for Large Corporates
Greece's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility
Greece's Best Bank for ESG
Piraeus has become the first financial institution in Europe to retain Euromoney's pan-European Corporate Responsibility award, underlining the growing international recognition of the bank's social impact and governance programmes.
The award was introduced as a single pan-European category in 2025, replacing separate awards for Western Europe and Central & Eastern Europe.
When awarding the title in 2025, Euromoney described the achievement as a "historic milestone", citing Piraeus Bank's combination of long-term commitment, strong governance and measurable social impact.
At the centre of the bank's corporate responsibility strategy is EQUALL, a programme built around three pillars: Value, People and Country. Since 2022, EQUALL initiatives spanning society, culture and the environment have benefited more than 50,000 people, with a target of reaching over 85,000 beneficiaries by 2030.
The awards also reflect the strength of Piraeus Bank's franchise across retail and corporate banking. Recognition as both Greece's Best Retail Bank and Greece's Best Bank for Large Corporates highlights the bank's role in serving households while supporting major businesses and infrastructure investment across Greece.
Being named Greece's Best Bank for ESG further underscores Piraeus Bank's commitment to sustainable development, transparency, and responsible corporate governance.
CEO of Piraeus, Christos Megalou said:
"These awards recognise the progress we have made in building a stronger, more resilient bank for our customers, shareholders and wider society. Retaining the title of Europe's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility is particularly significant because it reflects the consistent, long-term impact of our approach rather than any single initiative. Through EQUALL, we are investing in people, communities and sustainable growth, creating value that extends well beyond banking and supports our people and local communities, our cultural heritage, and responds to the social and environmental challenges we currently face.
