Energy consumption

Piraeus Group monitors and manages the impacts it has on the environment and calculates its annual “carbon footprint”. It sets targets to reduce emissions from its operations, lending, and investments.

Electricity consumption

The energy consumed in the Group’s operations primarily comes from electricity, natural gas, district heating, heating fuel and employee business travel. Specifically, Piraeus Bank Group uses electricity across its buildings for lighting, powering electrical and electronic devices, and air conditioning, and in many cases, it is also used for heating.
The assessment of operational environmental aspects indicates that electricity is the main stream of Piraeus’ environmental impacts. For this reason, Piraeus designs and implements various environmental projects, aimed at reducing electricity consumption and improving its carbon footprint from its operational activities.
