Total greenhouse gas emissions
Piraeus Group monitors and manages the impacts it has on the environment and calculates its annual “carbon footprint”. It sets targets to reduce emissions from its operations, lending, and investments.
Total greenhouse gas emissions
For the calculation of Piraeus’ operational footprint and of Piraeus’ financing and investment activities from the following were taken into account:
- Consumption of heating oil and natural gas, fuel consumption by company-owned cars, and total of refrigerants replaced/ added in the air-conditioning and cooling units, and heat pumps (Scope 1),
- Consumption of electricity and purchased heat in all buildings and branches, as well as in the Group’s investment properties (Scope 2),
- Purchased goods and services, fuel and energy related activities (emissions not included in Scope 2 and Scope 2), upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting (Scope 3 cat. 1-14),
- Equity investments (listed equity and unlisted equity), mortgages, commercial real estate (loans), project finance, corporate loans, sovereign debt (sovereign bonds and sovereign loans), motor vehicle loans, corporate bonds (Scope 3 cat. 15).
