Carbon Footprint

Piraeus Group monitors and manages the impacts it has on the environment and calculates its annual “carbon footprint”. It sets targets to reduce emissions from its operations, lending, and investments.

Total greenhouse gas emissions

Piraeus intensifies its efforts to address climate change by reducing its emissions, contributing to the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 or sooner.

Energy consumption

Piraeus Bank designs and implements various environmental projects, aimed at reducing electricity consumption and improving its carbon footprint from its operational activities.

Resources consumption

Important reduction in toner consumption per employee in the Bank every year.

Renewable energy

100% of the electricity consumed on the Bank's building infrastructure came from renewable energy solutions through the provision of Guarantees of Origin (GOs).

Recycling

Recycling programmes in the Bank constitute a basic component for constant and systematic improvement of its environmental performance. 

Transportation

Piraeus Bank is the first Bank in Greece and one of the first in Europe to make significant investments in e-learning as a training tool for its employees.

Green procurement

Piraeus Bank has integrated green criteria in its procurement policy. It selects environmentally friendly products, the fleet of corporate vehicles is being gradually replaced with zero-emissions vehicles, while electrical and electronic equipment are gradually being replaced with energy-efficient appliances.
